GREAT review. I love how you wrote every detail of the drink, from the finish to the texture, to the caloric count. I bought it from an International grocer and tasted it. It was OK, not that great. lol

This stuff is excellent. Throw a shot of rum in it and you'd have a great mixed drink. A scoop of ice cream and a blender would really turn it into a milk shake. While I'm sure like everything else fresh made stuff is better, but you get what you can. The place I picked this up also has the stuff to make it fresh so I'll try that next.
BTW carrageenen is used in a lot of stuff, especially ice cream, as an emulsifier and thickening agent. The only place it comes from is irish moss algae.

That stuff is poison!! That is not real Jamaican Irish Moss. If you are ever in Jamaica, ask for Irish Moss at any local bar. The taste is similar, but it doesn't have any hydrogenated oils. It is really an all natural drink and is VERY healthy. Sea moss is gathered and boiled to extract the carageenan from it. Sugar, spices and milk are blended together with the sea moss. Supposed to be good for men.

Almost everyone in the office had a swig of this drink and are pretty unanimous that it looks bad and smells like compost. Doubtful we'll ever try this beverage again. We did try a swig each and were not overly impressed.

I am cracking into a can right now. Not bad tasting at all, though I was a bit nervous since I can't find an expiration date ;) .
