There's just something about Dr Pepper and cherry-flavored spinoffs. First we had Red Fusion… which didn't last long. Then it was Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper, which actually has been a while, prompting a packaging redesign. And what about the limited edition Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr Pepper? I've even ranted about the revisionist history with all these line extensions. So should it come as a surprise that yet another cherry-inspired version of the Doctor is coming? Yup, get ready for Dr Pepper Cherry!

Dr Pepper has searched the Rock Legends to find its latest pop culture doc, KISS front man Gene Simmons, to introduce new Dr Pepper Cherry. Simmons, who founded the legendary rock band KISS more than 35 years ago, will star in a new commercial, letting fans know that Dr Pepper Cherry has just a KISS of cherry flavor, making it amazingly smooth. Simmons' "Dr. Love" will be the third Dr in the "Trust Me, I'm a Dr" advertising campaign, joining the ranks of basketball legend Dr. J (Julius Erving) and Dr. Frasier Crane (award-winning actor Kelsey Grammer). The TV spot will feature Simmons in full KISS "Demon" regalia. Nick Simmons, Gene's son, will also star in the commercial.

You know what's interesting as you read this? Note the listing of beverages in the final paragraph: "The brand is available in Regular, Diet, Caffeine Free and Cherry varieties." Cherry Vanilla is gone, so I would probably assume that Cherry may be replacing that. We'll see!
It's already on shelves in San Antonio, Texas and it is surprisingly smooth. I was hoping for more of a Dr. Pepper Red Fusion taste (growing up in North Carolina I miss Cheerwine on a daily basis).
Surprisingly they haven't seemed to release the diet version that I can find.
Its already available in Georgia, too. I love it. its like Dr pepper but its really smooth.
I had Diet Dr Pepper Cherry today at a gas station just outside of Chicago. It was fantastic! Very smooth, not too sweet- but you can taste the sweet cherry flavor! I hope this one is around for awhile! Thanks, Dr Pepper!

Got a 12 pack of the Diet Dr. Pepper Cherry from a Von's in San Diego a few days ago. I have never heard of it but I LOVE Diet Dr. Pepper. My god, it is so good! Nothing like the Diet Cherry Vanilla one…this one is much smoother, and just goes together…kind of like cherry coke, but more delicious. I'm surprised I haven't seen a commercial or anything for this yet!

Its not in canada yet =( nor is cherry coke.
I have yet to see Cherry Dr. Pepper anywhere in Ontario. I live in Toronto, and I have to cross the border into Niagara Falls U.S.A to buy Cherry Coca-Cola and pay the N.Y state 5 cent deposit on each can. I will be looking for Cherry Dr. Pepper on my next visit.
I'm not sure why they are not available in Ontario.
