I'd like more of the chemical additives to be replaced with natural additives. There's no reason to have chemical crap in my soda, I had a metal detector and would pull up cans from the 60's with ingredients that you could actually pronouce and words that weren't more than 20 letters long.

Throwback is okay. I can't taste / smell very well, I tasted a very light citrus taste, and a "splenda" taste. I guess this is how old mountain dew should taste, it wasn't thick like the HFCS - which I found interesting.

Anyways, it's time to try pepsi throwback. I'm not much of a pepsi drinker, but, coke has HFSC * i think? *and is just to harsh for me.

Have you REALLY checked the ingredients in Mountain Dew Throwback lately? Your listed ingredients above missed quite a few.

Here's is what is actually list on the can:

Carbonated water, sugar, citric acid, natural and artificial flavor, sodium benzoate (preserves freshness), erythorbic acid (preserves freshness), disodium EDTA (to protect flavor), caffeine, gum arabic, brominated vegetable oil, FDA Dye Yellow 5.

Ethyldiaminetetraacetic acid, also known as EDTA is used to chelate metal ions. EDTA belongs to a class of synthetic compounds known as polyaminocarboxylic acids It has a negative ionic charge, known as an anion, - EDTA4. These cations bond with anions to form chelates; EDTA does not dissipate in soils and does not break down. This is a serious environmental hazard. EDTA has been found in many natural waters and occurs at higher levels in wastewater (I guess all those people peeing Mountain Dew Throwback?). Its inability to dissolve led Western European countries to ban the use of it in manufacturing of beverages and detergents.

Sodium benzoate aka E211, as preservative can form carcinogen benzene when mixed with erythorbic acid, a frankenstein form of asorbic acid (vitamin C). Sodium benzoate has been show to damage mitochrondrial DNA. The mitochondria consumes oxygen to give you energy and if you damage it then the cell starts to very seriously malfunction. There is a whole array of diseases that are now being tied to damage to this DNA – Parkinson’s and quite a lot of neuro-degenerative diseases, but above all the whole process of ageing.

Brominated vegetable oil is banned in many countries because of the known side effects of bromine on human beings. Bromine is a halogen and displaces iodine, which even in small doses has been shown to depress thyroid function, as well as known side effects such as: depression, memory loss, hallucinations, violent tendencies, psychosis, seizures, cerebral atrophy, acute irritability, tremors, ataxia, confusion, loss of peripheral vision, slurred speech, stupor, tendon reflex changes, photophobia due to enlarged pupils, extensor plantar responses, fatigue, lethargy, loss of muscle coordination, and headache.

In animal testing, BVO consumption has caused damage to the heart and kidneys in addition to increasing fat deposits in these organs, as well as testicular damage and stunted growth.
Definitely doesn't sound like something I'd like in my soda.

Finally, The FDA is considering banning many of the dyes they previously said posed no risk to children or anyone else. At the top are artificial food dyes with names like Yellow 5, which have long been targeted by some scientists and consumer advocates for causing neurological damage and hyperactivity behavior in children.

I started drinking Mt Dew throwback a couple of weeks ago. I tried both reg Mt Dew and the throwback and like the taste of throwback better. Please dont discontinue the throwback. Maybe they could keep making both to keep everyone happy. I love the look of the can with the hillbilly on it.

Just picked up 2 cases of MD throwback at the store today. Had not read any review or tried it before but I was intrigued. Tasted it and I think it is pretty good. Definitely not the same as HFCS. I have only been drinking sodas again for the last 3 months or so after having gone 6 years or more without any (health issues forced me to switch to non-carbonated drinks for a while) so my tastebuds are a bit off with sodas now... I can't drink Coke or Pepsi without wanting to barf. But I am good with the citrus drinks.... mostly Mtn Dew or Sun-drop.

Weird that you guys are saying no Orange Juice listed in ingredients. The can I just finished has that listed as the third ingredient... "carbonated water, sugar, orange juice from concentrate,....". Has Pepsi been playing with the formulation since it was released or was there a misprint on the old cans or maybe the new ones??? The cans I have are with the hillbilly guy on it... mostly with can with some red and green.
