Mountain Dew is the bomb, though I can't honestly say I notice much difference between the standard Mountain Dew and the "throwback" version.

One thing I did notice is the label design. The hillbilly is uncorking his jug; Back then, the hillbilly was kneeling and taking a beam on some unseen prey with a shotgun. Is this some PC, anti-gun crap?

I am also an old-school Dew drinker, and was very excited to get some of the Throwbacks the first time they came around. WTH? It totally has the aspartame flavor to it (read: tasted like crap), and when I heard it came back out I tried it again (right now, actually) and it is the exact same chemical taste that it was before. The thing about more carbonation would be great, if they made it so fizzy it almost hurt like regular Dew. I dig that Dew Burn.

Old school Dew tasted more like SunDrop did back when everything was in glass, Mello Yello was the "too sweet" one. They absolutely did not taste like beety aspartame. They had distinct flavors, but were very crisp, refreshing, light drinks.

I feel like I have to sip Throwback slowly so I don't OD on caffeine and sugar-ish whatevers.

If they made the REAL old Dew in glass bottles (more eco-friendly, btw), they wouldn't be able to keep it on the shelves. Turn those millions of tons of HCFS into ethanol or something.

Everything is so backwards.

Looks like Pepsi Throwback and Mountain Dew Throwback are here to stay. I found both in 12 packs, 2 litres, and single serve 20oz bottles in the Detroit area today (12/30/2010). They do not say "Limited time only" on them any more. The packaging is for the most part the same but they have added a box with the total calorie count in addition to the standard nutritional facts area.
