Packaged in a plastic 20 oz bottle, the look isn’t much to write home about, unlike the more unique shapes found with Dad’s Root Beer and Dad’s Cream Soda. The label is orange in color, with a yellow/blue/red “Dad’s Old Fashioned Orange Cream Soda” logo. A callout also denotes that this drink is “Caffeine Free.”
After unscrewing the cap, you expectantly smell an orange soda. But in this case, the scent was unlike traditional orange drinks, in that it smelled more mandarin than anything. Curious!
The flavor itself was amazingly smooth, though a tad on the syrupy side. However, I did not expect it to taste as good as it did, given our rather lackluster experience with regular Dad’s Cream Soda. This drink very much tastes like a melted, carbonated Creamsicle (you know, those popsicles with vanilla ice cream coated in an orange flavored ice shell).
This is actually a really good rendition of the orange cream soda flavor experience. Nice job, Dad’s!
