Titanic Remembrance Day commemorates April 15, 1912, when the famous “unsinkable” ship hit an iceberg and sank in the Atlantic Ocean during its maiden voyage from England to New York City.
How to Celebrate
Today is a good day to take time to think about the 1,522 passengers who lost their lives to the icy waters that morning. There were about 700 survivors. Last year was the 100th anniversary of this tragic event. There will undoubtedly be a number of specials on television today for you to watch. There is a Twitter account that reenacted this event in real-time which you can read. Finally, if you have 3 hours and 14 minutes to spare, you can watch James Cameron’s Titanic starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.
To honor this day we are featuring the 1998 7Up Titanic can from Australia. I’ve seen the Titanic film and realize it tells of a love story intertwined in the tragic events of what happened in the early hours of April 15, 1912. However, I can’t help but to find it a little odd and perhaps in poor taste that this can has the text, “Relive the Romance & WIN the voyage of a Lifetime!”
