Review: Jarritos Fruit Punch

BevReview HQ is located at the heart of a diverse mix of Hispanic and Polish residents here in Chicago. Needless to say, Jarritos drinks are everywhere, so we often take them for granted. It was time to visit an old favorite, thus today we’re looking at Jarritos Fruit Punch.

We provided background on the Jarritos brand in our review of Jarritos Lime, but in short, it’s a beverage line from Mexico with strong U.S. distribution. Even better, they use “natural sugar” as the primary sweetener. And while you can find them in various plastic bottles, the iconic way to enjoy a Jarritos is in the 12.5 oz glass bottle, textured with the brand name on the neck.

Fruit Punch is red in color with a minimal scent when opened. It slightly smells like cherry candy, but it’s faint. As for the taste, the best way to describe it is “fruity and clean.” There’s no mistaking the fruit punch qualities of this flavor, which starts out subtle and then really lays on the sweetness into the aftertaste. But there’s very little syrupy experience, which is awesome. The way this taste comes through makes it a great compliment to food, as well. It doesn’t overpower, but adds a nice “kick” of fruit flavor. Quite refreshing. Like most Jarritos flavors, this one is very recommended.
