Unknown. Escargot is the French word for snail. Escargot also refers to the French dish of cooked land snails. This appetizer is considered a delicacy and is served at finer restaurants.
How to Celebrate
The only way I can think of to celebrate National Escargot Day is to order some and eat them at a restaurant. I suppose you could also find some in your garden or local park and cook your own. I hear they are good with butter. If you eat them without any type of butter or sauce, you are looking at a low fat, high protein treat. I don’t know about you, but I am not ready to eat “Gary”.
To celebrate this day, we selected the 2010 Adrenalin Energy Drink Can from Hungary, featuring a snail wearing a blue hat.
Happy National Escargot Day (5/24)!
