Unknown. Sewing Machine Day celebrated the invention of the sewing machine. They were invented in 1790 by Thomas Saint in England. However, he did not advertise it. In 1807, Josef Madersperger, an Austrian tailor, created the first sewing machine.
How to Celebrate
You can celebrate a Sewing Machine Day by making something new with your sewing machine or by purchasing a sewing machine. I suppose you could also do the easy thing a just by some new clothes.
To celebrate this day, we selected the 3-can Marc Jacobs Cola-Cola Light set from Benelux.
The first can is “I Love 80′s” and shows a woman in a black tuxedo and top hat, featuring a red heart resting just above the coat button. Behind her is a pattern of bowties.
The second can is “I Love 90′s” with a woman in a pink & purple dress with purple shoes and a large red hat with a bird on it. She is holding a red heart in her right hand. Behind her is a pattern of red, white and purple birds.
The third can represents “I Love 00′s“. On it is another woman with a red heart behind her right shoulder wearing a crazy striped and patterned outfit. In the background are red dots. I’m sure these outfits were created by many sewing machines.
Happy Sewing Machine Day (6/13)!
