World Sauntering Day began as a response to jogging by W. T. Rabe in the 1970s. W. T. Rabe was the Public Relations Director of the Grand Hotel at Mackinac Island, Michigan at the time. The Grand Hotel boasts that it has the world’s longest porch (660 feet) which is perfect for “walking slowly with a joyful disposition” or to saunter.
How to Celebrate
The idea of World Sauntering Day is to slow down and enjoy life. Take a walk or a hike outside today and look around and just take everything in that you might normally miss.
“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” Ferris Bueller, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
To celebrate this day, we selected the 2010 Marley’s Mellow Mood Citrus Relaxation Drink. On the can is Jamaican musician, Bob Marley and the words “All Natural Relaxation Marley’s Mellow Mood. Reduces Stress & Relieves Tension”.
Happy World Sauntering Day (6/19)!
