Can Holiday: International Joke Day – July 1

Origin

Unknown. A joke is defined as something spoken, written, or done with humorous intention.

How to Celebrate

You can celebrate International Joke Day by either telling a good joke, participating in a funny, but harmless prank, or by watching some comedy whether it is stand-up or on-screen. I’m a fan of New York City-based Improv Everywhere as they often have “missions” that you can help with. Check out Star Wars Subway Car and Black Friday Dollar Store.

1980s Quosh Jokers Orange Soda Can from Great Britain

To celebrate this day, we selected the 1980s Quosh Jokers Orange Soda Can from Great Britain. On this orange can we have my personal favorites, Tom & Jerry. In their “scene,” Jerry is wearing a police hat and striking Tom in his head with a billy club. A speech bubble is coming from Jerry (who typically never speaks) asking the question, “What do policemen have in their sandwiches?” The answer, “Truncheon Meat.” Yeah, not being from Great Britain, I had to look that one up.

A truncheon is a billy club.

Ahhh… I get it now. Very funny…

Happy International Joke Day (7/1)!
