Embrace Your Geekness Day was created by Wellcat Holidays.
“The word geek is a slang term originally used to describe odd or non-mainstream people, with different connotations ranging from “an expert or enthusiast” to “a person heavily interested in a hobby”, with a general pejorative meaning of “a peculiar or otherwise dislikable person, esp[ecially] one who is perceived to be overly intellectual” (Source: Wikipedia)
How to Celebrate
You can celebrate Embrace Your Geekness Day by doing anything geek related especially if it is highly technical, requires upper intelligence, and perhaps some math. Web development, can collecting, and writing can reviews and can holiday articles are geeky.
To celebrate this day, we selected the 2007 Firedog Energy Drink Can. This is a solid black can with a green dog jumping through a white hoop or “O”. Following is the Firedog logo in white and green. On one side are the words, “knowledgeable, trustworthy, friendly, authentic, passionate”. If you don’t remember Firedog:
“Firedog was launched in August 2006 to provide in-store, in-home, and online computer and home theatre technical support and installation services in competition with other retailers’ consumer and business technical services offerings such as Best Buy’s Geek Squad and Staples’ EasyTech. The Firedog brand was sold to Firstmark for US$250,000 in September 2009″ (Source: Wikipedia)
Circuit City ended up filing for bankruptcy and closed its doors on March 8, 2009.
Happy Embrace Your Geekness Day (7/13)!
