Since the debut of Taco Bell-exclusive Mountain Dew Baja Blast back in 2004 (has it been that long?), we’ve seen a lot of conversation here on BevReview about the desire to have that drink available in bottles/cans as a traditional Dew flavor. Well, starting in May 2014, you may just get your wish!
Thanks to research shared by Dylan Bannister, who hosts Mountain Dew For The Win, we believe that Pepsi will be releasing Baja Blast as a limited time offering starting in mid-May. Our investigation denotes that the drink will be available in 20 oz bottles, 24 oz cans, and 12 packs of 12 oz cans.
The non-food service release of Baja Blast in stores would mark the 10 year anniversary of the flavor, as well as coincide with the massive increase of PepsiCo products recently added to the Taco Bell menu.
We reached out to PepsiCo corporate a few weeks ago for their comments about this news; we still haven’t heard back. However, given that this product seems to be appearing on official PepsiCo planning calendars, as well as seeing photos of the product in the wild, we have high confidence that Baja Blast will be making its debut quite soon.
