Kicking off our reviews of the international beverages offered for sampling at Coca-Cola's Club Cool attraction at Walt Disney World's Epcot theme park is Krest Ginger Ale.

This is a beverage from the country of Mozambique, located in southeastern Africa. The official information panel above the fountain reads:

Ginger has long been used as a medicinal herb throughout Africa, so it is not surprising that Krest Ginger Ale is a popular drink in Mozambique.

Poking around the 'net a little, Krest Ginger Ale is also noted as being "a popular drink in shebeens (informal bars)". In any case, I obtained a sample from the fountain using the provided Coke-branded cups.

It has all the attributes you'd come to expect from a ginger ale, similar in makeup to Canada Dry and the like. Yellowish color, strong scent, bubbly. In the case of our sample, we found the drink to be clean and sweet, very crisp. I personally wonder if the fountain samples found at Club Cool were true to their original mixtures, namely using the local sweeteners like sugar vs. high fructose corn syrup. My assumption is yes.

Overall, I very much enjoyed Krest Ginger Ale. Very good.

An overview of Club Cool, a Coca-Cola-sponsored exhibit at Epcot's Innoventions West, found at Walt Disney World in Florida. Free samples of international Coke-owned brands are offered here!

Besides being a beverage enthusiast, I'm also quite a fan of the Disney theme parks. Recently I found myself at Epcot, located at Walt Disney World in Florida.

Of interest to soft drink fans is the Club Cool exhibit located at Innoventions West in Future World. This area is sponsored by Coca-Cola, which previously hosted a similar exhibit called Ice Station Cool in the same location (which I thought was a better concept overall… it's a pity it was rethemed in 2005).

Besides being a big advertisement for Coke, providing the ability to purchase beverages and souvenirs, Club Cool offers you the chance to try various Coke-owned brands from around the world via a fountain… for free!

During my visit the following international flavors were being offered:

Krest Ginger Ale (Mozambique)

Fanta Kolita (Costa Rica)

Beverly (Italy)

Mezzo Mix (Germany)

VegitaBeta (Japan)

Kinley Lemon (Israel)

Lift Apple (Mexico)

Coca-Cola has similar testing stations at their World of Coca-Cola attraction in Atlanta (as well as at the now-closed Las Vegas version of the attraction). Historically, different flavors have been rotated into the fountains, allowing a good glimpse of some of the flavors around the world. These "no longer offered" flavors included Smart Watermelon (China), Diet Tai Guaraná (Brazil), and Lychee Mello (Thailand).

I took some time to sample and review each of the flavors currently being offered at Club Cool. We'll be discussing them in more detail here on BevReview.com in future installments.
