Coke seems creatively dead on so many fronts with this release. This beverage review talks about the failed branding strategy along with the slight hint of the vanilla, but no black cherry flavor.

Coke announces something called Coca-Cola BlaK, a combination coffee/cola mid-calorie drink with a goofy spelling. Did they not learn from what this was done a few years ago?

Looks like Coke is sorta replacing Vanilla Coke with a similar flavor, Black Cherry Vanilla Coke — and Diet Black Cherry Vanilla Coke.

Coke is pulling the plug on both Vanilla Coke and Diet Vanilla Coke (though they leave the door open for them to return.) Drinks will be replaced by and Diet Black Cherry Vanilla Coke.

OK, so Vanilla Coke is nothing new. It's been out for quite a while, launched in May 2002. And it sold like hotcakes, being Coke's #1 product that year. They quickly launched a diet version… and Pepsi Vanilla followed a year later.

It seems “Lime” is the new “Lemon”, as Coke is rolling out Coca-Cola with Lime very soon. They say that “it seemed only natural to include a splash of lime flavor in our flagship brand.” I’m sure it did.
