Angled as a drink derived from 100% natural sources, it’s rumored to contain flavors from both the kola nut and coca leaf, most closely resembling the classic cola taste. This is similar to the strategies found with Pepsi Raw and Pepsi Retro.

From the beverage rumor mill… PepsiCo is looking to roll out a couple of flavor extensions to its Amp Energy Drink, including Grape and Orange. Possible launch date would be March. With Amp’s NASCAR sponsorship and Super Bowl commercial, it looks like this brand is really shooting for growth in 2008.

From the rumor mill… a recent trademark filing indicates that a new mojito-inspired flavor of Sierra Mist may be in the works, under the name Sierra Mist Mojito Splash (and Sierra Mist Free Mojito Splash). You may recall that Jones Soda has had some success with limited edition mojito soft drinks, so there might be some merit to this filing.

Mountain Dew Electrocution was a hoax, created in late 2004 as to drive traffic to a blog. The rumored drink was to have arrived around Easter 2005 and would have tasted like a “rush of wild berries.” Um, right. But in the end, it was nothing more than a rumor. Move along!
